Yer, I found that 2.4.x gives me Kernel Panic.

I used the following files to install LinuxPPC 2000:

Kernal = 2.2.10-2000-09-27.lha (27th September 2000)
Boothack = bh000629.lha (Latest Boothack)
RAMDisk = apus-lp-ramdisk.image20000622.gz (22nd June 2000)

Sounds almost identical to mine. I did get the OS installed without any
problems.
Debian just doesn't work for me. I got this far with Red Hat before.

Now all I need to figure out is how to configure the bloody XF86Config for
my BVPPC.

Do you have any hints, URLS, or configs ?

I have video=amifb:off which is probably what you used. I also need ide=doubler

I have a similar Amiga setup to yourself, although I have less RAM but an 060
processor:
