Mainly because most of the people on PC lists (well, at least the PC lists
I've ever bothered to subscribe to) are "lamers" who attack you at every
possible opportunity.

An example:

I'm running Windows98 (not the Second Edition) and I keep getting general
protection faults."

Obviously I'd have gone into more detail than that, but I can't be arsed to
type out practically a whole mail ;-)

A typical reply I got would have been:

2nd edition of win98!"

In other words, unreadable (hehe) and totally useless. Instead of offering
practical solutions, they just talk crap. If the questions in the "None
Amiga Advice Please" thread had been asked, the replies would probably have
been "go and look it up on some site, or read the f**king faq" and "dont
bother with an athlon get a duron".

In other words, most PC-mailing lists are read by people with no grasp of
netiquette, who think they are the be-all and end-all of the computing
world and can answer a question with more questions. No help at all.

I'm speaking from personal experience though, I don't intend to tarnish the
reputation of any PC-list-tyrants on this list :-)

Gaz.
