Subject: | cable modems used on Amiga |
Hello all,
I am very soon going to be getting cable modem access to the internet and
really would like to have it connected physically to the Amiga (and the PC
networked to the Amiga, not the PC as the gateway)
I am really asking if there is anyone else in Australia (preferably Sydney)
who has it setup on their Amiga. The two main cable providers here both
specify that your computer needs to be minimum of Win95 with 64MB RAM (or a
Mac), neither of which I have, but my Amiga is more specced-up than the PC
and I don't mind buying another xsurf (or similar) ethernet card to be able
to plug the cable modem into.
We have a large number of ISPs in Sydney and they all give out "free hours"
CD-ROMs which self-install when you put them into a Winbox... I am assuming
the cablemodem suppliers are the same... Which would mean it wont be an
easy task to install the software side of the cablemodem (although I like
how automatic MiamiInit is). Is it the same (with Windows-only CD's)
everywhere else?
So even if you're not in Oz, and you still have your Amiga connected to a
cable modem, could you please get in touch with me?

Regards,
Richard.
