I think your best bet will be the Eyetech AmigaOne board and tower case.
As you say, there is no point in paying hundreds of pounds for an
accelerator you would throw away in a few months. It looks as though
the Eyetech product will be available in a few weeks, although it might
take a while for drivers for lots of PCI cards to get written.
