Subject: | PPC systems - please explain |
Hello,
I have a CyberStorm PPC. When I first installed it I used
whatever the default ppc libs were and ran lame.elf fine.
That was over a year ago. Then my board went bad and
the OS was updated. Now I have the board back in and
I am having problems with anything ppc related.
First of all, how many ppc software programs are there?
I know there is WarpOS from H & P. And then there is
something called MorphOS. Which of these, if either,
does the OS use by default? Do both of these use the
ppc.library? I wanted to install the ppc jpeg datatype
(WarpJPEGdt.lha). It says it will work with Warp and
Morph. So do I have to install one of these to get it to
work or does one of them come with the OS?
As far as libs, I just have the ppc.library on disk right now.
When I try to run lame.elf, it looks for ppcdiss.library.
If I put that one and powerpc.library (which came in the same
distribution) on disk I get a requester saying PowerPC and
Warp cannot run together and then the system hangs. So
somehow I have the wrong libs it seems.
I am totally confused on what I should have on disk to
be able to use the ppc. I would prefer to get the basic OS
method working before I start installing a new program
if possible. Can someone explain to me what different
methods there are and what I need to run each one?
Jack
