I'm using a cable modem with my Amiga 1200 with 040+PPC.
I use Miami and a Micronet Ethernet card.
At first the cable company here in Portugal told me I couldn't use it because
it needed a PC/Mac with..blah...blah...blah.Well it works and it works fine.
With my old Blizzard 030 I experienced (too) many crashes and lock-ups,but since
I bought the Blizzard 040/PPC+BVision,the problems disappeared. It might have
been a configuration problem,I never lost too much time trying to fix it.
I use the cnet.device that I got from Aminet.
Hope this helps.
Bye,
