As long as you do not make extensive use of ENV:.
Many (a bit more sophisticated and mostly GNU programs) as well as
some programming languages use ENV: variables (AKA $VAR) a lot.
Programs using ixemul.library always read in the whole ENV: for variables. And, some utilities set $TIME each second ;-)
I *hated* that ! (Not the $TIME var, but the "rattling").
