I hate to tell you this but .ADZ files are GZIP archives.
And, in case you haven't noticed, (although I haven't tried it recently :) if
ArcHandlerEx recognises an archive that it doesn't have a parameter file for
then it will give you the option of running AHGen to generate one.
If xadlist can't identify a file as an archive then ArcHandlerEx has NO hope.
