[compressed archives]
No, not "compressed ADF volumes" but compressed ADF disk images !
;-) A "Volume" is an OS abstractum. A disk-image is a physical re-
presentation of something that could be mounted as a "Volume".

Though, of no importance at all, I disagree !
I never liked DMS. It looks very hacky to me. It was nice (since it was the only widley accepted way of creating compressed disk-images)
but I recall the times when i had to fiddle around with my modem-
settings to eliminate CRC errors on transmitted DMS archives back
in my BBS times. All other files transmitted without any problems.
DMS is *only* supported in Amiga. ADF is supported widley. It can
be compressed, as you mentioned earlier, thus allowing same or even
smaller sizes than DMS archives. If a new and better compressor gets
developed you can apply that one on an ADF.
And Amiga support is just as strong as is DMS.
And its free.
Of course, there are not that many utilities for ADF for AmigaOS
than for DMS, but most are just GUI frontends anyway.
Good bye,
