Hmmm...the button was there, so I just hit it....;-) And, I read
the docs. But that was over a year ago.
And: Now the clue ! It was not ArchandlerEX. It was ArcDir.dopus5 !
I used that one for lha and lzx since it was faster. So actually
ArcDir killed my file.

Yep, since you are using ArchandlerEX ;-)
I use it only for exotic archives, not supported by ArcDir.
