Hello Tim

On 28-Mar-01, you wrote:

I believe that you still can't get what Jon and Greg are repeating here (and
there) again and again like some sort of parrots (no offence intended)!

They say again and again: it is H&P that disables ITS OWN features for some
mysterious reasons. They say again and again: they tried to discuss with
H&P about this but got NO reasonable answer why H&P does that (disabling)
once they spot dopus started. They say again and again: if you have enough
power to squeeze out of H&P any reasonable technically backed up info
beside "this is a compatibility kludge we needed to provide to allow dopus
running", then just DO it since they tried and failed.

Correct me GP guys if it is me who misunderstood something.

It is up to the OS NOT to break the rules set up for the applications
programming.

Unless, of course, it is the intention of the "OS" programmers who want to
force the users to go the way they choose for maximizing the short term
(who thinks of The Amiga in long term strategy nowadays?) benefits. Which
seems to be the prevailing idea.

Again and again... :-( You run this "new OS" if you like. But you have to
take into account that you need to refrain from watching the "current
stuff" in animated action once you decide to run this "out of date
software" for some dubious reasons.

Don't some of you people see that the AmigaOS' *real* development died along
with the hardware manufacturing?! After that who the heck is H&P?! A
company that (for some reasons) acquired the AmigaOS brand name! A company
that during its short presence in the history went into quarrels with most
of the major Amiga soft and hardware developers. What might their
objectives be? To create something really good as a system for the hardware
they sell??! They sell no hardware. They want as much as possible in a
short time out of the acquired brands before the names vanish in the
history's dusts! That's pure business. No offence to some people who may
have put some really good debugging work into the OS. But most of them were
third party or even non-commercials. And most of this debugging and new
features were started long before the so called OS3.5 which landed in my
trashcan after some frustrating hours spent with it. This "new OS" as some
insist to call it - is much more like another application running on the
AmigaOS. The application, which dislikes the competitive application. It
reminds me about the (in)famous J&J duo which did pretty much the same once
they decided they don't like Chris Bauer for making something competitive
which took a lot of their bread away...

Regards.

P.S. I get sometimes a bit emotional whenever it goes about some Amiga
matters... My sincere apology to whoever may feel offended by my post.
