No it doesn't. It patches the ROM, just like SS. Look at the source
Alan! I briefly tried to get a version running on Linux/68k but
couldn't work out how to handle the 68k traps/exceptions. Would have
been cool though - a crashproof Mac :)
In fact Basilisk is just a re-write of SS with optional 680x0
emulation.
