Well since this email I have chatted to a few people about it and am now
wondering if it is the 060 at fault. :-/
first of all I was told that the 'scratched' off bits usually tell you if it
has a FPU or MMU so I thought I would test to make sure I have a FPU and
MMU. I used the identify library stuff and got the following: (ListExp is
installed in C: when you install the identify.library stuff, you will have
it if you play dynamite)
-- ListExp V12.0 -- Richard Koerber <rkoerber@gmx.de>
(ListExp is a part of the Identify package, see AmiNet util/libs)

3 089E.A0 00200000 4M Elbox #160 (unknown)
And I also used Sysinfo to check the fpu and mmu was there. AIBB crashes as
soon as I run it (evaluating system) so I guess it doesnt like the Mediator
or 060.
The next thing I was told is that thier 060 chips only get warm during
operation and I was pretty sure that mine got hot so I found out by
touching it... Ouch! - burnt my thumb :-( so it appears to be too hot. Its
in a EZTower and there is planty of space for air to circulate around the
system. Anyone elses get too hot?
The final thing (and what I really dont like the sound of) is that someone
told me that they thought that the 'RC' part of the chip description meant
that it was a reconditioned chip (or something along those lines). Can
anyone remember what all the various mask revisions of the chips and what
they mean? Looking at the ListExp result it says my 060 is revision 1? (is
that old or new?)
Cheerio
