I did look under the bonnet. The features it offers are superficial at best
and nothing I didn't patch into my system long, long ago. I've been using
Thomas Richter's fontcache patch for years.
For those superficial features, I'd pay nothing. For the bugfixes - well,
as you say, they should have been in OS3.5. But paying £40 for OS3.5
and then £40 for OS3.9 because they were too greedy to fix the bugs
they made for free? That's taking the piss.
workbench.library v44 is still buggy and crashy as hell. That's all I
want fixing. Why do I need to spend £40 on a fix for it, when it shouldn't
have the bug anyway?

Amiga means "friend", duh. Amiga doesn't mean freedom anyway, it
means free. As in beer. As in you won't get any money from it :P
