you dont need that mode. just run the 14bit calibrated stereo with 2
channels.

correct - thats when AHI becomes useful in itself...it can throw the 16bit
sound direct to the card. AHI is slow with Paula because it has to do
things like down-sampling and frequency reduction

..and if it did would it get supported? ;-) i cant recall. the 1024 isnt
a bad sound card, but it is a creative sound card (and not as good as many
other, more expensive, options). It'd be nice to see Dolby 5.1 (in the
newer SB 1024live! retail cards) supported.. but the main things to see
supported are
basic 16bit I/O
the MIDI
joystick port :-)
