It looks like the serial port is to communicate with the STB.

This means it's acting as a router.

In this mode, the box is pretending to be a modem, using a form of PPP
link. MiamiDx handles PPP over Ethernet and PPTP.

chances are you'll need access to a PC when the thing is set up, then
connect it to your Amiga after the engineer's gone.
