Hihi
On Wednesday April 25 2001, Mikey C said to All:

I found it suprisingly difficult to think up a top ten. I can think of perhaps
two or three programs which I *know* my life would be completely different
without (Zeus BBS, for example) but when I try to think of ten, two things
happen: first, I can't agree on an order. Second, the "perhaps it should be
the top 20. Or 30." thought starts happening...

I decided to forget about games completely or I'd be here all night :)

Anyway.. here's my top ten, as will be submitted on the site, although it's
actually my top two with eight others I couldn't decide the order of:

MakeCD
- Changed the way I think about data. Perhaps it's more that I can now
create CDs rather than the program itself, but it has done everything
I've ever wanted it to do and has done it without complaint.

clariSSA
- I'd never bothered with animation until I tried this.

Deluxe Paint
- Not used it for years, but without it I might never have used the Amiga
for anything but games. Hours of fun with a pioneering interface.

OctaMED
- Something else that pulled me away from games and into the scene - shame
I still have absolutely no musical talent whatsoever, although I do use
it to piece together samples from other tracks.

Imagine
- Cheaper than Lightwave, introduced a generation to 3D. What more can be
said? Combine with clariSSA and impress your mates with Babylon5 anims :)

Zeus BBS
- Revolutionised communications, and I liked it so much I bought the
company ;-)

Scala IC500
- Absolutely top notch stuff. I've only been using it for a year, since I
got a couple of A4000s kitted out with it, but it's been used to create
frontends for a number of pet-projects.

TVPaint
- First paint program since Deluxe Paint that impressed me. I use it all
the time for web stuff now. Hmm, does it count if I got it free? It /was/
commercial, at least..

2. SAS/C
- AmigaE might have been here if it were commercial. E tought me the basics
of real programming, SAS/C taught me the rest. It's a well put together
package -- *too* well, as 'downgrading' to PPC capable compilers is a
real put off.

1. PageStream
- I never got on with v2, but v4 represents one of the best uses you
can find for 180 sterling (apart from an OTT night out maybe). Well, if
you have a need for professionally done documents, anyway.
