I know, but if you subscribed on the web site, you can unsubscribe in the
same place. If you subscribed by direct email, you will have received a
response saying "this is how you unsubscribe" and "keep this email".

Putting this at the foot of every message doesn't do much good, and I'm
on lists with unsubscribe info in the footers that get as many
unsubscribe posts to the list.

The problem with a foolproof solution is that you always underestimate
the ingenuity of fools ;-/
