| Subject: | Floppy read error |
Hi,
As I am not on the internet at home I rely on daily
visits to the local internet cafe/library for Amiga
support. This means copying files onto HD floppy disks
before copying them onto the Amiga using CrossDOS. I
can use the same disk for months with no problems at
all when out of the blue I get the message:
<volume>
has a read error on disk block 256
Error 256
Data CRC error
Retry / Cancel
If I hit retry I get the same message again and again.
On the odd occasion after hitting retry numerous times
the file will eventually copy. Other times though it
will not copy at all, even after hitting retry 50+
times.
The problem occurs whether I format the disk using the
Amiga or a PC.
Any clues?
