It's the nearest Sunday to November 11th which was armistace day!
The armistace was signed at 11.11 am on the 11th day of the 11th month 1918
and it was meaningless pap! Rumour has it that it was typed up in rather a
hurry and the clerk put the carbon paper in the wrong way round! One copy
was fine but all the others were backwards!
As for poppies, it's a symbolic thing.
Richy.
