Yes. Floppies don't last for ever, and yours is worn out.
I once saw a floppy with a circular 'slot' where the magnetic
coating was totally worn away. That disk held an access keyfile,
and was supposed to be removed once the system was booted up: but
the operator simply left it in 24/7/365. He called me in because
his access code "wasn't accepted" :-)
