There were plans for an A4000 version (when it was going to be running DE),
but they are looking less likely.

It's looking less likely that there will be a need for a A4000 version. The
reason is by the time that such a version wold get to production,
AmigaOS4.2 would be out, which would negate the need for hardware to be
used for backwards compatibilty. There are a few people I know of that are
waiting for AOS4.2 to come out before buying an AmigaOne (then that way
they'd only need to get the standalone computer).
It may be possible to use an AmigaOne as a standalone board with AOS4.2 but
only if basic USB drivers (Keyboard and mouse which would otherwise come
from the A1200) are written for it. Even then you'd have to forsake sound,
and wouldn't be able to use programs other than those that can RTG.
I don't think that saying it will only be able to emulate A1200 programs is
accurate, it will use the A1200 for AGA and Paula sound in a way that
metal-banging programs will except.

The first AmigaOnes will be only able to accomodate an A1200, whether or not
an A4000 version will be made depends upon the timescale of the new OS.
Personally I'd like to get a standalone, but seing as I've got an A1200
already, I might as well benifit from getting the AmigaOne early, I can
always chuck it out when it is no-longer needed.
