Java is sandboxed (well, when you run it from the internet it is). It
has no access to the machines OS or diskspace, so you can't write
viruses in Java unless someone was running a 100% Java OS, or it was
a running on a rather insecure virtual machine.
As for the AmigaDE, presumably there'll be anti-virus software written
for it, and prehaps some important system files could be locked by
the OS to prevent viruses writing to them
