Been to the Science Museum in London? I went recently and the only thing I
noticed that has changed in the Computing gallery is they're building
Babbage's Difference Engine. My previous visit was 22 years ago. It seems that
to them computing has not evolved since 1976. I couldn't even find a ZX80 or
81 for God's sake.
There's a delapidated model of a computer room (!) though, complete with operators
loading tapes into the drives, and a recorded description of the operation of the
system which has seen better days. It sounds like one of those Open University
programmes where the lecturers wear flares and kipper ties.
