First of all, the obvious question, the system has power?
I had identical problems when one of my simms failed. I'm assuming
your 128MB is 2 64MB simms, if so swap them over. If the simm
in slot a of your BPPC was at fault it will now boot but you will only
have 64MB. If you get the full 128MB one of the simms probably just
needed refitting.
If this doesn't work, strip your system to the minimum, A1200 m.b
floppy drive, kbd, mouse and RGB monitor or TV. Do you now get the
animated insert disk screen? If so you can start adding components
back to the system until it fails, I'd start with the IDE interface
and harddrives, then the BPPC you'll need a working simm in slot a
for it to boot, then both simms, then your zorro slots and so on. If
possible, when you've found the faulty part clean its connectors with
isopropyl alcohol and a cotton bud. And don't forget to take
anti-static precautions when removing and handling the components.
Note, if you have PFS 2 or 3, I think you need to have extra memory in
the system for it to boot other wise you get an error.
If you don't get the insert disk screen on a minimal system use
a multi-meter check the power supply is providing the correct voltages
to the motherboard. If it is then try cleaning and reseating the
ROMs.
If it turns out be a motherboard fault the cheapest repair
option is to scan the local papers, Loot etc for a second hand A1200,
probably only cost £25-£30 and with all your other hardware it would
be a shame to get rid of it for such a small layout.
