Well here is what I think (And I'm not on anyone's side, before I start a
MorphOS Vs. AmigaOS flame war).
I think this is a very sensible step, the DE would not have made a dent in
the Windows market, but as a seperate system, it could do very well.
MorphOS may have all that stuff now, and have all the stuff planned, but
anything they do after the emulation won't be AmigaOS. Mac Users had to
migrate to new hardware when they went went PPC, why shouldn't we? Also
MorphOs runs on current hardware, but Old, never to be improved hardware,
which from the number of broken cards I see mentioned seems to be
unreliable. Also the new AmigaOnes form bplan are dual boot (MorphOS and
DE (or now (AOS 4.0)) Actually will this mean that bplan will drop the A1?
The only problem I can see is a AOS MorphOS split, like there currently is
(just have a look at some of ANN's archives for previous battles) but far
more damaging.
The fact is the people on boths sides don't like each other or thier rivals
systems, this carries on though the users.
Just wait for Matt Sealy to post his comments and you'll see what I mean.
