40,000! It's hardly been used :-)
HP III did not support PostScript as standard, perhaps I should've
been clearer, the P, MP, M etc denote what you get "out of the box".
As with most HP printers the III was upgradable, I'd hazard a guess
that you've got a PostScript cartridge installed in your III. The
later models tend to have the upgrade option as a SIMM or DIMM in one
of the memory slots.
