I'm not familiar with their very latest models but their low end
products, the 400, 600, 800 series were crap. Very poor cartridge
design meant toner built up in the waste bit of the cartridge causing
a loud clicking noise and the cartridge to stop rotating. In
fairness Kyocera's support was, without fail, excellent and they
would always replace a cartridge with this problem without question
although admittedly the contract I worked on at the time was a very
large customer.
In contrast, their higher end models 1700, 3600 series were very good
indeed, very quick and reliable apart from a few issues with the
lasers which had a habit of going faulty and causing lines on the
print. Also they are pretty good on consumables as unlike the low end
models and all of the HP range the toner, developer and drum units
were all separate. However, this does make the printers more
expensive and as you'd have to go for a lower end model due to cost, I
would say avoid Kyocera.
Incidently, the HP models that have PostScript also use Level 2
emulation.
