Yep.. it works!
The funny thing is that BITMAPCACHE was on YES!!!
Otherwise I could have never run Heretic II or Wipeout a few months ago.
Maybe I changed it back by mistake :(
I just want to thank *all* the people who have helped me in dealing with this
problem.
