Subject: | Here is a tough one |
Hi, I truly hoping somebody can help me because I am going mad.
I am trying to install LinuxPPC 2000 (which is the redhat version) on my
A1200T with Blizzard PPC603 200mhz SCSI and 060/50 +128 MB of ram.
All the partition on my HD are PF3 but I have managed to have a 70MB FFS
partition where I put redhat and all the rest of files (bootstrap,
ram.image, etc.)
I have created the main partition for LINUX and the SWAP one.
I have managed to launch the installer using the bootstrap command:
bootstrap --apus -k vmlinux -r ramdisk.image.gz root=/dev/hda6 video=amifb:off video=pm2fb:800x600-16
and then I get a message form the bootstrap confirming the resolution I
have chosen, that the *BPPC + SCSI are enabled*, inhibiting the file systems
and loading the warpup version of the bootstrap.
I managed to get the screen with the black pinguin and from there I can
see:
SCSI DISABLED OR BAD TARGET 0 LUN 0
SCSI DISABLED OR BAD TARGET 1 LUN 0
etc....
which is weird considering that the bootstrap detected the BPPC + SCSI.
Anyway, I get the welcome screen, choose the language, keyboard and then
when it is time to install the package the system asks me:
What type of media contains the packages to be installed?
Local CDROM
NFS Image
Hard Drive
FTP
HTTP
If I choose NFS Image or FTP or HTTP the installer asks me to choose a
driver.
If I choose CDROM (I have LINUX on CDROM as well) the installer asks me to
insert the CD and then will say:
install exited abnormally. Reboot
Kernel Panic: Kernel access of bad area PC c00e93f4.... etc.
Rebooting in 180 seconds.
If I choose Hard Drive (which is the one I thought I had to choose) I get:
Kernel Panic: Kernel access of bad area PC c00e93f4.... etc.
Rebooting in 180 seconds.
My PowerUP options (the one you get if you press esc while booting) are set
with
No CDFS HD RDB SCAN
NO MAPROM
SUPERSCALAR OFF
WRITEBUFFER OFF
BRAWCACHEOFF
Unfortunately I cannot change anything there because if I do, the computer
will not recognize my hard discs any more.
Also, in my startup I have
C:SetPatch NONSD QUIET SKIPROMUPDATES blizzppc.device WAITFORVALIDATE
; BEGIN NSDPATCH
IF EXISTS C:NSDPatch
C:NSDPatch QUIET
ENDIF
; END NSDPATCH
which I do not know if it is affecting the installation of linux.
I WOULD BE EXTREMELY GRATEFUL TO ANYONE WHO WILL BE ABLE TO HELP ME WITH
THIS ISSUE.
My friends are ready to close me in an asylum.
My boss at work is ready to fire me.
So help me please!!!
Kind regards
