I have done this myself - my Apollo had a horridly underpowered fan glued to
it, I just slid a very small blade up against it, chipping away at the epoxy
until I was able to get under the fan, then popped it right off.

There are many places to get another 040, but removing the fan is pretty
straightforward and easy.
