Hello Lewis, Errm, I'm not sure what your refering to as
>the 'new' scsi.device. scsi.device V40 is contained in Kick 3.1 ROM.
I presume by 'new' scsi.device. You are referring to Heinz Wrobel's
NSD or 'New Style Devices' that Haage & partner included in 3.5 / 3.9
The ROM update fixes a number of bugs to the 'old' V40
IDE_SCSI.device V40 in Kick 3.1 by 'patching' it to V43.

AFAIK the A1200's IDE connector can handle a maximum of 2x IDE
devices simultaneously (without a buffered interface on the A1200's
'internal' motherboard IDE controller'. OS 3.5 / OS 3.9 users still
need to use IDEFix to enable the secondary channel on A1200 IDE
buffered interface cards. If you have just a CD-ROM on channel 2,
then yes, you _do_ need to use atapi.device to mount the drive.
PowerFlyer's on the other hand happily handle the secondary channel
without any need for software such as IDEFix, etc. This is because
the PowerFlyer utilizes it's own firmware via a FastATA Boot ROM,
which happily recognizes drives on the secondary channel without
the need for IDEfix.

Kind Regards,
Craig Daines
