I have the flashrom tool for Version 7.1, although I'm not convinced it will
cure youre probs.
There are other factors such as the bridge and FliFi revision that can
affect compatability. What does the output of P4info say you have?
I really suggest you sub to the Picasso list. There are others with 1200
towers on the there.
Look for picasso96 on Yahoogroups.
