It's not just the time it take to read and write from the drive that's
the problem. You have to wait for it to load into the editor, then cut
out the silence at the beginning/end and then resave it. Whereas a CLi
tool would do thew whole job in one go, and could be applied to a
number of samples with a single command.
The computer time used would be about the same, but the user time
required would be almost zero. I too would like a tool that was able
to trim silence from the start and end of a sample.
