The Titanic was famous because it was 'unsinkable' that is, it could close
off sections of the ship to prevent the flooding of the whole ship but it
was flawed! It was also the maiden voyage, it took hours to sink, there was
another ship in rescuing distance. It wasn't just the iceberg that caused
the loss of life, it was ignorance of the true situation, disbelief that
anything could go wrong! What makes the Titanic so compelling is that the
tragic massive loss of life could have been averted by any one of a dozen
different actions had someone acted accordingly!
