WB is just the Desktop side of the Amiga's OS; DOpus replaces this.
DOpus does NOT replace the hardware side of the Amiga so things like the
filesystem are unchanged.

The standard Amiga filesystem FFS only supports filenames upto 30
characters; some replacements like PFS/SFS allow longer filenames, DOpus
supports these by way of that option you are trying to change.

I understand that the maximum length of a filename even using PFS/SFS is
107 characters; this is probably why DOpus is resetting the figure for you.

However I don't reccomend using this if you are still using FFS; GOD
knows hat the consequences would be.

I still use FFS and I have been happy with it for years so I'm not 100%
sure on the maximum length of these replacements, but I think I'm right.
