If your filename length setting isn't persisting, you need to watch and
see what happens when you save the environment because it isn't working.
There seems to be a problem (that I've reported a couple of times) with
the first reading of directories and then again every eight uncached
directory reads where Magellan only displays the short version of the
filenames. In my case, my downloads directory is one of the default
windows that opens when DOpus starts and it always comes up with truncated
filenames. Flushing the directory cache will fix the problem (until it
happens again).
The workaround seems to be that you need to read at least eight new
directories and then go back to the original directory. I'm considering
setting up a button to purge the directory cache; either by reading a bunch
of directories or maybe some existing internal command.
