The AmigaOne is progressing to schedule, with AmigaOne 1200 boards being released to developers within a few weeks. Driver porting and software library writing are now underway, and Hyperion Software, who are porting the Warp-3D graphics drivers, have agreed to provide a games bundle with the AmigaOne to provide new purchasers with an instant demonstration of what the AmigaOne hardware - and their software - is capable of.

Following further discussions with Amiga Inc we have revised the AmigaOne timetable as below. This is to allow a more detailed specification of hardware and software interoperability to be defined before releasing the AmigaOne 1200 to beta testers.

The current timetable for the AmigaOne is as follows:

February 2001

  • Boards shipped to system-level developers (for PCI resource library, 2D/3D graphics, 'OS 3.9 PPC' support etc).

March 2001

April 2001

  • Beta testing classic Amiga applications.
  • Beta testing retargetable hardware drivers.

May 2001

  • Final costings and end-user pricing set.
  • Volume production / trade distribution / end user shipping.
