Not really, these days all that SCSI has over IDE is that SCSI can
queue up commands, generaly has a larger cache,faster spindle speeds
and that more devices can be on a bus. You can still get about
25Mb/s out of IDE drives and you can also get 7200rpm IDE drives (the
Seagate Baraccuda SCSI family and the Seagate Baraccuda ATA family
share the same drive mechanisms, just the interface board is
different) And then the next generation of IDE is supposed to have
command queuing amongst all the other featurs.

If you've got a computer with one or two disks in it, then the best
bet is to have IDE, if you want say three to 5 disks then SCSI is
better and if you are go beyond 5 disks then Fibre Channel is the
best bet (Mmmmmm, 200Mb/s, 130mile cable lengths, switched
topologies, 16million devices on a fabric .... yummmy ;-)
