I have this problem too, but my solution was to not use the second IDE
channel any more and therefore I don't need to run the software.
If you switch on your computer and hold down the left mouse button,
you should get the prefs program for the 4xEIDE driver. Set the option
to "no split".
I found out that the prefs program doesn't read the prefs back in
properly and always sets the gadget to "split" the next time you run
the prefs program, but it should be working in "no split" mode if you
save it as that.
Thats as far as my knowledge goes though - I don't know if the second
IDE channel works properly in no split mode, or if you can use OS3.5+
scsi.device or PFS3DS on drives on the second channel.
