Its possable that you may can clashing cd-rom mount files the os39 one and idefix one.
Another scenario is that your drive is external ?
If so the ponsy little powerpack provided wouldnt power anything above 16x.
Anything abouve this really does require the full 12v and not the 9v the powerpacks
provided give out. The result being the crashed that you speak of when the drive spins up.
