With OS3.0 (and harddisk max. 4 Gb) "Quarterback Tools" and "DiskSalve"
should be able to repair
almost anything. Never failed me.

You sholdn't!- Repair instead. You *could* loose a single file or directory,
but it hardly ever happened to me.
With OS1.2 - OS3.1 there are lots of different well-working tools.
