Dunno. My 1541 connects to my Amiga via the parallel port.

I don't know. The 1541 is a programmable device. It can read both MFM and GCR
encoded disks, so, you could probably attach it to an Amiga and download some
new code to the onboard RAM of the 1541 and use it to read any kind of 5.25"
disk provided you wrote the software. Its actually a very daft way to do it
though.
