I already tried using scsi controller direct to a Zip drive only, in both
terminated and unterminated state. Same results. On advice of KDH who were
the suppliers I checked version 1230scsi.device in a shell, both with and
without ram on board. Answer was "File:1230scsi.device object not found".
They believe the controller itself is at fault, and are sending me another,
tested board, asking me to return the defective one only after receipt and
satisfactory operation of new one. Better than average customer service in
my experience.
Hoping for the best.
Thanks to all who responded.
