Suitable routers (they aren't modems) are rare and expensive. The
Alcatel Speed home is reckoned to be good, it's the ethernet equivalent
of the USB Frog supplied for the home ADSL system from BT. Alcatel don't
supply to retail on the UK, so you'd need to get one from Ebay or
similar.

Alternatively, get a cheap PC with a USB port, install a suitable Linux
distro and use that as a router. The next release of Smoothwall should
support the Alcatel frog.

There's an interesting router with a USB port due out soon. This takes
the Frog, so avoiding any problems with connecting unsupported hardware
to the system, and provides ethernet ports for a LAN, see
http://www.seg.co.uk/draytek/products/vigor2200usb.html

For a suitable router, see

Any ISP providing ADSL services has a link to BT's checker.
