640x480 is the size for NTSC video frames. PAL frames are 750(approx)
by 576 (exactly).

The reason the width is approximate is that video is analog so there are
no pixels in the scan line.

The _best_ way to grab video frames is with a PAR card, which is Zorro
II hardware. With this, you can grab a few seconds of video (or hours
if you want), and then pick the exact frame. But the PAR was expensive
and may be hard to find.
