Hi All,
Further troubles that I'm having since fitting my Blizzard 1260 & SCSIKit,
whether related or coincidental, I'm not sure. Maybe someone can help.
Twice recently my machine has crashed whilst downloading mail using Yam and
web stuff using Voyager. As one or the other was inevitably writing to the
hard drive at the time of the crash, a certain amount of corruption to that
partition was to be expected, I suppose. Both programmes are on my Comms:
partition. The crash is to a black screen with no guru messsage, and the
machine tries to boot itself again. This takes ages as the hard drive tries
to verify itself, but eventually makes it although at a snails pace. I then
use Quaterback tools in analize and repair mode and after the block check
get the mssage "Root drawer contents corrupted- error will be corrected" I
click on repair and get the message "Error was corrected" On completion of
run I get the message "Minor problems corrected- Volume usable". All is
well it appears.
However if I run the programme again I get the same results.
Conclusion: error was *not* corrected.
I've also used DiscSalve in repair mode which reports "No problems" or words
to that effect.
After using QuarterBack and then re-booting, this happens at the regular
speed I am used to, despite the apparent root drawer corruption.
Can anybody help me to get my partition proper again, and hopefully more
stable, from now on?
