If you did a clean install why did you install 3.1 first, if you install a
clean 3.9 it takes care of all the lot by itself. I didn't bother with
the Emergency Disk until I got the system up and running, as the previous
time I tried like you it didn't work. Make sure you you install the
BoingBag3.9-1 straight after the 3.9 install. What HD interface are you
using, as this can make a difference when it comes to the Emergency Disk?
