Subject: | Prelude probs.... |
I just got one of those highly-coveted Preludes; the Zorro version.
Unfortunately, it didn't come with a manual, so that's why I'm posting
about my probs here without RTFM.
First problem was that after installing it into my MKII Power Tower
A4000, it threw my SCSI configuration out of whack for some reason, but
I was able to get it back in working order.
Now...here's the problem: so far the only programs that have actually
been able to give me sound output via the Prelude are Play16 [the one
included on the install CD] and Audio Evolution. Nothing else seems to
output the sound for whatever reason. I installed the AHI drivers.
SongPlayer gives me silence, as does Samplitude Opus -- and this is the
special Prelude-only version that's on Aminet. Speaking of Samplitude
Opus, I pulled down the "Record" option from the "File" menu and
immediately got a Guru [Starts with 8, ends with 4, zeros in between].
Rebooted, tried again, same thing. I've tried various other AHI
programs, and none of them give me sound through the Prelude.
Suggestions? Well...I do have an AD516 card installed, along with its
AHI drivers -- come to think of it, I still have the Concierto drivers
installed [don't have a Concierto anymore, though]...but I know that in
the AHI prefs and in the individual program's prefs the Prelude is the
choice...
What should I be looking out for? Remember, Audio Evolution and Play16
will output via the Prelude, but nothing else.
Here's my complete setup:
HARDWARE:
-- Amiga 4000 Power Tower MK II w/2 MB chip RAM, 16 MB fast RAM
-- Cyberstorm 060 MKIII w/128 MB RAM
-- Two hard drives on the internal IDE port -- one 2.1g, the other
13.6g
-- Yamaha CRW4416SXZ and Zip 100 drive -- both external -- on the
Cyberstorm SCSI. [Yeah, I know about that term power oddity, but
everything's working!]
-- Sunrize AD516
-- Picasso IV
-- GVP I/O Extender
SOFTWARE:
-- OS 3.9
-- DOpus Magellan 5.82 in WBR mode
-- PFS3 [hmmm....maybe this is why SoundProbe always crashes!]
-- To be honest, not sure which version of AHI I have installed
-- Picasso 96 -- all programs that take advantage of it use 800 x 600 x
24
BTW...haven't tried recording from the Prelude except with Samplitude
Opus, and I'm pretty sure the problem I'm getting there is just a
software bug...but I did use the Concierto version of Samplitude before
without a problem...
