Of course, why else would it cost more? The difference is that the DAO
version does DAO (Disk At Once) burning.

Add the tooltype MAKECD_BURN_PROOF to MakeCD's icon. This is documented
in the changes section of the latest beta. The last release version
doesn't support BURN-Proof

It depends on what you're reading. Audio isn't too hard for the system
to keep up, especially with large buffers and TAO. But data from IDE
will be too slow. See the reviews of the 12X and 16X Plextors for more
information.

12X = 2MB/s, more than a Zip drive can manage.
